Description
Château Simard Saint-Emillion Grand Cru
vintage: 2016
varietals: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc
Juicy, soft wine with nice acidity and bright black-currantand cherry flavorsSoft tannins are cushioned by fruitiness
Ch. Simard is part of the Saint-Emillion Grand Cru and has been in the Vauthier family (owners of Chateau Ausone) since 1954 and its chalky, gravely soils produces wines that are particularly elegant and expressive of its fine terroir.
Merlot and Cabernet-Franc thrive on the gravel, sand and clay rich soils of the vineyard and the wines are raised in concrete vats.
The result: a ruby red robe that offers up complex notes of cherry stones, black fruits, nuts and tabaco that are also evident on the palate. Subtle acidity and tight tannins give this wine immense ageing potential.
